Issues concerning development are part of our lives wherever we live at both local and global levels. This area of study is relevant everyone, but in particular those who are planning to work cross-culturally at a community level in the Majority World.
Studying Development at allnations will equip you with a conceptual and a practical understanding of the causes of poverty and a Biblical response through integral mission. We provide you with a global overview of the definition and causes of poverty and look at contemporary response approaches. It will lay a Biblical foundation for Christian involvement with the poor.
We will then build on these foundations to gain an understanding of the complexities of poverty and to develop an understanding of various models, concepts and principles in planning and implementing a response. This will incorporate analysis of the causes of poverty, review of the theories and practices of development and the methodologies and tools available for managing responses.
You will be able to increase both your knowledge and practical skill in development management. The training will incorporate contemporary practices and policies in the development sector, applying them through the use of management processes, strategic and investigative skills, in order to equip you to manage and implement a development project in various contexts.
Throughout the course the purpose is to equip the student to apply both the theory and implementation skills of development practice so as to build a transformational development overview, which centres on an integral mission approach.
We use a multi-disciplinary approach which is essential for grasping the complexity of poverty and development action. Also a Christian perspective on all the issues is explored.
