Arts & Trauma Healing

This course is delivered in partnership with Dallas International University and the Trauma Healing Institute, both based in America. It fosters a holistic interactive approach, engaging Scripture within the healing process for people who suffer from the mental, emotional, and spiritual effects of trauma.

What is the programme?

This course is delivered in partnership with Dallas International University and the Trauma Healing Institute, both based in the USA. The course fosters a holistic interactive approach, engaging Scripture within the healing process for people who suffer from the mental, emotional, and spiritual effects of trauma. It combines biblical truths with basic mental health principles expressed in ways that can be easily translated into other languages. This course will emphasize the importance of performing and visual arts in trauma healing.

Through this course you will learn to:

Address cognitive beliefs and emotions damaged by trauma, both in your own life and in the lives of others.​

Use participatory learning methods to train local church leaders in ways that help them to become effective care-givers.

Who is the course for?

This is a graduate level course. Participants who sign up for ATH UK must be able to attend the 10 day classroom based teaching at All Nations Christian College.

How is the course delivered?

The Arts and Trauma Healing course (ATH UK) is taught online at Dallas International University USA, with a residential element at All Nations Christian College in the UK. It is a "blended" course, with readings and assignments to be completed online, prior to a 10 day intensive course of participatory classes at All Nations.

Dr Beth Argot

Beth Argot serves with A.C.T. International and is the Arts & Trauma Healing Liaison, PhD Coordinator, and Associate Director of the Centre for Excellence in World Arts at Dallas International University.

Dr Mary Beth Saurman

Mary Beth Saurman is the Creative Arts Therapist, and SIL International Senior.

What qualification will I gain?

This course is offered in collaboration with ABS’s Trauma Healing Institute (THI) and the Trauma Healing Alliance. In addition to earning Dallas International University (DIU) course credit, students who demonstrate readiness on completion of this course and complete two approved ATH healing groups according to ATH guidelines will be considered for certification by THI as Apprentice Facilitators in trauma healing.

If you would like to apply for this course you can only do this through the Dallas International University website.

  1. Contact Beth Argot to set up an interview time before the application process.

  2. After the interview, apply for the Gateway admission to take this course (details below).

  3. Please submit your application form to Dallas International University by November 3, 2024.

  4. All documents in support of your application must be in the Dallas International University Admissions office by December 3, 2024.

  5. Payment due by January 7, 2025.

Application Process

Stage 1 - Dallas International University Application:

  1. Follow the Dallas International University online gateway application form and complete the form stating clearly which location you would like to do the course 'ATH USA' or 'ATH UK'.

  2. Submit an official transcript showing an appropriate level of education for the course. Follow this link for more details about transcript requirements. Please contact isc@diu.edu with any questions.

  3. Both the transcript and the translation should be sent to: admissions@diu.edu or to: Dallas International University Admissions, 7500 W. Camp Wisdom Rd, Dallas TX 75236 USA.

Where appropriate for non-native speakers of English, evidence of satisfactory performance on a Dallas International University recommended test of English proficiency: TOEFL or IELTS scores, if you have them. Otherwise please contact isc@diu.edu

Stage 2 - All Nations Residential Application:

Once your application has been received and accepted you can go on to the next stage of booking a place on the residential (UK) part of the course. Please only apply through the All Nations website once you have been formally accepted by Dallas International University.

The closing date for application for the residential part of the course is 11th March 2025.
